As part of the Syrian-German Hospital Twinning Project

As part of our efforts to support the sustainability of Syria’s healthcare system, the Wiederaufbaukanäle Syrien (Reconstruction Channels for Syria) initiative, in coordination with local and international partners, is inviting doctors to volunteer for a medical exploratory delegation to Syria. This marks the first step in launching a long-term Syrian-German hospital twinning project, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).


The hospital twinning project is a strategic initiative aiming to establish institutional and sustainable health partnerships between hospitals in Syria and Germany. It enables international collaboration in medical training, hospital management, and health research.


Delegation Objectives

  • Visit hospitals and health centers across several Syrian provinces to assess the medical and service landscape.
  • Identify equipment and medical supply needs.
  • Observe clinical workflows to detect and help prevent medical errors.
  • Evaluate logistical and operational conditions for staff and healthcare infrastructure.
  • Participate in medical procedures and treatments within existing specialties to assess healthcare quality firsthand.
  • Provide analysis and advisory recommendations to improve care delivery and operational systems.
  • Produce daily reports for the Wiederaufbaukanäle Syrien initiative and BMZ.

Travel costs to Syria will be covered through the German-Syrian Partnerships Program, so invoices must be kept.

Our transportation within Syria will be free of charge through local partners who provide distribution and transportation services.

We cannot yet determine the amount of supplies that will be provided. We are working to identify the specialties, distribution areas, and work zones, and we are racing against time to secure them.

Accommodation will be arranged for those who wish to obtain it through coordination with health directorates or partner civil society organizations.

Yes, a compensation for efforts will be provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through the German-Syrian Hospital Partnerships project.

Yes, we plan to sustain financial support for the missions and cover travel expenses.

The announcement of the target groups will be made through the channels and networks of the directorates or the structures in which we will be working.

We do not need ambulances because the missions are planned to operate internally. If emergency personnel are available, they will be integrated into the existing emergency teams.
